Fighter World Museum

Located next to Newcastle Airport, Fighter World is a hands-on experience. Visitors can walk around, touch and view some of Australia's most iconic military aircraft plus enjoy the added benefit of sitting in the cockpits of a Mirage jet fighter, Macchi jet trainer and a CT-4B basic training aircraft.

Oakvale Wildlife Park

formerly known as Oakvale Farm & Fauna World) is a 25-acre hands-on wildlife and farm experience located in Salt Ash. The park remains a major local attraction featuring over 100 species of native Australian, domestic farm, and exotic animals.

Wildlife Encounters: Guests can participate in hands-on experiences with over 110 species, including feeding kangaroos, patting koalas, and bottle-feeding baby animals in the Farmyard Nursery.

Hunter Wetlands Centre

In Shortland is a 45-hectare internationally recognised wildlife sanctuary. It serves as a vital habitat for over 240 species of birdlife and offers a variety of nature-based recreational activities for families and nature enthusiasts

Wildlife Encounters: A daily Magpie Geese feeding talk takes place at 10:30 AM. Ticketed Reptile Encounters ($5) are held every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 AM.

Canoeing: Visitors can rent 2 or 3-person canoes to explore Ironbark Creek. Rental is subject to tidal conditions, and closed-in shoes are mandatory.

The centre is open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Murrays Brewery Port Stephens

Now operating as part of the broader B. Farm estate, is a well-known craft brewery and destination located in Bobs Farm, Port Stephens. It shares its 35-acre site with the Port Stephens Winery, offering a combination of craft beer, estate wines, and diverse dining experiences.

They are proud to have the highest number of beers of any east coast brewery and were included in this year’s The Critics’ Choice Australia’s Top 100 Best Beers – with 8 of our beers in the list

Shark and Ray Rescue Centre (Bob's Farm)

This centre operates as a rescue and rehabilitation facility for injured marine life.

Activities: Visitors can pat and feed sharks, rays, and eels. The venue also features an aviary with various birds.

Cook-a-barra Restaurant & Function Centre

This destination is famous for its farm-to-table experience, serving barramundi and vegetables grown directly on-site at their world-leading fish farm and hydroponic garden.

Activities: Guided tours of the Barramundi farm run daily at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM ($12 Adults, $6 Children).

Menu Highlights:

Cooka-whole-barra: Whole Thai-style or Aussie-style roasted barramundi ($39).

Barramundi Fillets: Lightly battered, oven-roasted with lemon butter, or poached ($29.50–$37).

Hunter Botanic Gardens

The award-winning Hunter Region Botanic Gardens are managed and maintained by volunteers for the enjoyment and education of the people of the Hunter region and visitors from Australia and overseas.
